Personal Experience

When I went on a hike for the first time, I was in college. I had been invited by an athletic friend and thought it would be a fun experience. Wrong. Hiking is rough on people who don’t exercise. Instead, I waited for my friend to finish their hike from a bench.

Sometimes, solo hiking can be a much better experience. You can take the hike at your own pace and go home when you’re good and ready — but it isn’t always safe.
