Ready to get your life back on track with high-level organization and some solid time management? You’ve come to the right place. If you are new to Time Blocking, here is a short explanation. The basic idea is that you organize your day down to the hour and, when that hour comes around, you tackle whatever task has been “blocked off” for that allotted time.

I am a huge time blocking nerd. When my day is color-coded and shifted into specific hours, I feel more productive and confident when performing tasks. While some people are wizards at written schedules — seriously, have you seen bullet journaling — my personal preference has always been mobile or desktop applications. And wow, there are some good ones out there.

Here are my person favorite FREE Time Blocking apps of 2021.

1. Plan

Available on Web, iOS, and macOS
Website

Plan is a fantastic Time Blocking application if you’re looking to export your day into Outlook or Google Calendar. I absolutely love desktop applications for Time Blocking so I immediately fell in love with this app. It has a clean interface, is easy to use, and has the option to create a to-do list.

2. TimeTune

Available on Android
Website

I know you guys are sick of me mentioning this app, but ohmygodiloveitsomuch. It’s a shame that it isn’t available for iOS or desktop, but TimeTune has a very simple, minimalistic interface that is easy on the eyes, and perhaps that is why I am such a geek for it. In the app, you sort your tasks by tags, so it is simple to breeze through and schedule your day.

3. Google Calendar

Available on Android, iOS, macOS, and Desktop
Website

Okay, hear me out on this one. Google Calendar has the potential to be a fantastic application for time blocking. Look at that clean task list, the ability to color-code your day, sync your calendar with friends, etc. etc. I have overlooked Google Calendar for so long due to the fact that it looked complicated at first glance, but I was way out of line. After opening up Google Calendar and giving it a fair chance, this application found its way to my top 5.

4. TickTick

Available on almost everything.
Website

You heard me right. This app is available on almost everything, from desktop to Apple Watch. I am a big sucker for apps that can be managed everywhere. TickTick has a really nice interface that looks like a cleaner version of Plan. The one drawback is that there are premium features you are locked out of. You can sort your day into tags, a feature I love on TimeTune, and also sort your task list by priorities- red being most important and grey being least. All in all, it’s a solid app that isn’t too crowded.

5. Weekly

Available on Desktop, Android, and iOS.
Website

How did I not know about this app sooner? All you have to do is login to your Office 365 account and are given fantastic time management tools. This application is very straight-forward and minimal, with the ability to color-code tasks (yes, please) and block them off into different categories. All in all, it’s very simple to use and perfect for time blocking.

And that’s that. I had a ton of fun going through and learning all of these applications, it’s amazing just how many time management apps out there that are that are completely free. Enjoy your time blocking journey!
