It’s Easier Than You Think

I recently published my first short story. This story was written, edited, and published within three days. I’ve been wanting to test self-publishing out for a long time, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Here is my experience.

Planning

I opened up my writing software and wrote a sentence-by-sentence draft on what was going to happen in the story.

Example: Elijah woke up. It is raining. He doesn’t like the rain. He makes coffee.

This makes the writing process much smoother. In my opinion, finishing and being happy with your first draft is the hardest part.

Start Writing

Since this story was below 2,000 words, I was able to finish planning and write 75% of it that day.

Finish Writing
