Life & Writing Update #2

Writing Update
God of Embers
Yesterday, I posted the second part of a two-part chapter from the perspective of the Goddess of Sight. We’re officially at what I’d like to call the “breaking point” of the story, where all the intensity starts. I’m talking war, betrayal, and so much more. Things are picking up!
Story Progress:
- 21 chapters published
- 38,246 words
- ~20 chapters remaining
April Writathon
I’ve posted 11,000 words in April so far. The cut-off for 25,000 words is April 16th — five days away. I won’t be too disappointed if I don’t reach that initial goal.
For three reasons:
- I’m in a really good writing rhythm
- I don’t want to sacrifice quality for quantity
- I FORGOT IT WAS TAX SEASON
Luckily, I managed to submit my taxes yesterday and am done with that, but it took up a good chunk of writing time. Here’s to buckling down and cranking out a few extra chapters this week.
Wish me luck!
Routine
I’ve learned a lot while writing a serial on Royal Road. Originally, I used to agonize over a single chapter for days, and I still wouldn’t be happy with it.
Royal Road isn’t like that. If you want to be consistent, sometimes you have to post the chapter even if it isn’t the best thing you’ve ever written. As a perfectionist, it’s been a learning process—but a necessary one.
Now, I write, edit, and publish a chapter within the same day. Even though I still catch writing mistakes after posting, it doesn’t feel as big of a deal as it did before. Mistakes can always be fixed.
Medium
If you haven’t heard, Medium is cracking down on AI content. This was a big reason I had stepped back from the platform—what’s the point of posting an article if it gets buried? I’m happy they’ve undergone this change and will be posting more here.
Twitch / YouTube Update
YouTube
I really enjoyed making the candy videos on YouTube. It was really fun, and I tried tons of new things I would never have experienced otherwise. That being said, I’m putting the candy videos on hold. While it was fun, it doesn’t really align with who I am as a creator anymore.
It’s scary branching out on YouTube. It’s scary doing one thing and then switching to something else, but sometimes, that’s just what it takes to find something that makes you happy.
My “Niche”
I think I’ve finally accepted that I want writing to be a big part of my future long-term. Meaning that I want my other social media content to pertain to writing as well, for the most part.
I’d still love to mostly stream games on Twitch, but I wouldn’t mind sprinkling in cozy writing sessions, much like we did before.
Twitch
The last time I posted, I had planned on doing a couple of streams that week, but the Writeathon took up more time than I anticipated. I’m getting into a really good rhythm and think that it’ll be much easier to fit Twitch into my lifestyle now.
Soon. Sooooon.
Life Update
I’ve been a real homebody lately. Even on my off days, my life has pretty much revolved around God of Embers. I’ve really enjoyed it, and it feels good to be excited about something again, especially to this extent.
Besides that, I splurged on a really cozy recliner!
This has been my go-to for Steam Deck sessions, reading books and manga, and even naps during the day. No regrets.
Conclusion
All in all:
- God of Embers is going well
- I’m embracing writing as a “niche” on social media
- More streams are coming soon
Looking forward to it!
